Mahmoud Said Art Work
 
MAHMOUD SAID: (1897-1964). Born in Alexandria on the 8th of April, 1897 from an aristocratic family. His father was the prince minister of Egypt and paved the way for his son to get the best education at that time. He finished his studies in Law.

Early in his life Mahmoud Said showed his love for art and was tutored by Mrs.Casonato, an Italian artist who lived in Alexandria. Later Mahmoud Said began studying art with Zanieri in his studio along with some of his friends like Ahmed Rasem and Cherif Sabry. But the turning point in his carrier as an artist came from his visits to the art museums in Europe from 1919 to 1921. During this period he studied art at “La Grande Chamuiere” in Paris.

In 1922 he was appointed judge in Mansoura. In 1947 Mahmoud Said decided to give up his post as a judge and concentrate all of his life on art. This was a turning point in his carrier that freed him from all the obligation of his past in order to live his life as an artist.

 In 1951 he exhibits in Cairo the work of 30 years which were 145 paintings that marked the greatness of this artist who deserves to be the pioneer of Modern Egyptian painting. In 1937 he had exhibited in New York and in Paris and in the Biennale of Venice in 1938, 1948, 1950 and 1952.
