Alaa Taher received his Biology undergraduate degree from the American University in Cairo, then went on to earn a Masters degree in Epidemiology from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.

He started an advertising agency "ATP", which focuses on commercial photography and production and co-founded "Sowar Online", the first Middle East stock photography website.

His work has been displayed in 11 previous photography and paintings exhibitions in Egypt, Australia, and the United States.
