28 Feb - 23 Apr 2012The choice of ancient subject matters, the echo of orientalist pieces in the collages, likethe echo of the appeal of ancient gestures, of foreign lands, and domestic tapestries, all this weaves up out of Katherine Bakhoum’s creations. Sometimes we only have theline of a horizon on which to hang our imagination, sometimes we only have the traceof a profile in the shadows. What we always have is a persistent belief in beauty.Where there is beauty, there is hope. Katherine Bakhoum has abandoned neither.

I painted this moon on a canvas to renew my usual supports. I painted others smaller where men are roaming freely. I chose naturally to pursuit my work on the sky and the clouds. To me they represent the mystery of the infinity, the light and the changing of the horizon. This.. View More | | 27 Oct - 25 Nov 2009Born in Cairo in 1949, half Egyptian and half French.
